# The agent's browser

> In Eggent Cloud the agent has a real browser on a machine of its own. It opens sites, clicks, fills in forms and scrolls, while you watch in the Browser panel and take control whenever you need to, for instance to sign in to an account yourself.

Usually the agent reads pages by itself: it fetches them and takes out the text. When that is not enough (a page needs clicks, a form, a sign-in or several steps in a row), the agent has a **real browser**. It runs on a separate Eggent machine, not in your workspace, and the agent drives it the way a person would: it opens an address, presses buttons, types, scrolls.

> [!NOTE]
> The browser is part of Eggent Cloud. A free install on your own server does not have it.

## When the agent reaches for it {#when}

- A page is empty without JavaScript, or shows its content only after a click.
- A form has to be filled in, filters chosen, steps followed.
- Something has to be looked at or done inside an account.

You can also ask outright: "open it in the browser and look at…". Pages the agent could not read the ordinary way are read through the same machine; they count as the plan's [hard pages](https://eggent.ai/docs/plans.md#tools), not as browser minutes.

## The Browser panel {#panel}

The globe button in the top right opens the Browser panel. It shows the page the agent is working on, live. Above the picture it says who is in control, below it how many browser minutes are left this month.

If the browser is not open, you can open it yourself with **Open the browser**, for instance to sign in to a site before the agent needs it.

## Taking control {#control}

Press **Take control** and the browser is yours: click, scroll and type on the picture, from a phone too. The agent waits and does nothing meanwhile. When you are done, press **Hand back to the agent**.

While you have control, an address bar with **Back**, **Forward** and **Reload** sits above the picture: type an address and press Enter to open a page yourself. Only web pages open there, and an address typed without `https://` is taken as one. A browser you open yourself with **Open the browser** starts with control in your hands and the cursor in the address bar.

That is how the steps a person has to take get done:

- **Signing in.** You type the password yourself, in the panel. Never write a password in the chat; the agent will not ask for one.
- **A code from a text message or an email.**
- **A captcha.**

## Sign-ins are kept {#sign-ins}

The browser remembers the sites you signed in to, and next time the agent gets there already signed in as you. Sign-ins are kept on the browser's machine, separately for each workspace.

**Forget sign-ins** (the arrow button in the panel's header) closes the browser and erases every sign-in it kept.

## Minutes {#minutes}

The browser is counted in minutes while it is open. How many minutes a month you have depends on the plan: the billing page lists them, and the trial has a few to try it. How many are left this month is shown in the panel; they start again on the first of the month. The agent closes the browser when the task is done; a browser nobody uses for a few minutes closes by itself. You can close it too, with **Close the browser**.

In a company everybody shares the administrator's minutes, and every place bought on top adds more.

## Good to know {#good-to-know}

- The browser does not run from Russia. Some Russian sites that are closed to foreign addresses will not let it in.
- Sites with strong protection against robots may show a captcha; you pass it after taking control.
- The agent does not see the values of password fields.
- A screenshot the agent takes is saved as a file in the project, in the [Files panel](https://eggent.ai/docs/files.md#panel).
